Call to Order:           4:00 p.m.

On a motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously voted to approve the minutes of the November 3, 2008 Board meeting.

 

Secretary/Treasurer Report: Harry Millsaps, Commissioner

 

Attorney’s Report: Attorney Bytell

 

Commercial Lease Agreement between South Walton Fire District and GPL Landscaping, LLC for the 393 South property – changes have been finalized and submitted to GPL Landscaping, who plan to take possession of the property on December 15, 2008.

 

The 395 South property lease agreement has been updated to incorporate changes made to the 393 South property leases and will be forwarded to the lessee.

 

On a motion duly made and seconded, the Board unanimously voted to approve Attorney Bytell’s monthly billing statement.

           

Chief’s Report:

 

Chief Talbert reviewed the Emergency Response Activity Report for November 2008.

 

Update to commissioners regarding recent media releases addressing cold weather safety and holiday safety tips for area citizens.

 

Awards Ceremony / Holiday Party reminder – December 19, 2008, 5:30 p.m.

 

Deputy Chief Hughes and EMS Chief Crawford will attend Florida Firefighter Safety and Health Conference, Orlando on December 8 – 10, 2008.

 

 

Chief Talbert will attend the Governor’s Domestic Security Oversight Council meeting, Tallahassee on December 10, 2008 as one of Florida’s two appointed fire service representatives.

 

 

RFP has been issued for the refurbishment of Station 4, Mack Bayou.

                       

SWFD is hosting the Angel Tree Program for 2008 in conjunction with Caring and Sharing and the North American Family Institute.

 

Meeting with TDC scheduled for December 3, 2008 to review the 2008 Beach Safety End of Season Report and discuss 2009 season.

 

Interviews for Training Division Chief are scheduled for December 11, 2008.

 

EMS Chief Crawford and four SWFD Firefighter/Paramedics will attend Florida’s Advanced Life Support Competition, Fire Rescue East Conference, Daytona Beach, January 28 – 31, 2009.

 

Met with incoming Walton County Sheriff, Mike Adkinson, to discuss issues of common interest and vision of respective agencies.

 

 

Committee Reports:

 

Fire Chief Performance Appraisal Update: Maurice Gilbert, Chair

 

On a motion duly made and seconded, the Board unanimously voted to approve a five percent (5%) salary increase for the South Walton Fire District Fire Chief.

Vice-Chair Jack Abbit requested EMS Chief Crawford research the debt collection percentages of other agencies and report to the Board at the March 2, 2009 meeting.
