On a motion duly made and seconded, the Board unanimously voted to approve Attorney Bytell’s monthly billing statement.
Chief’s Report:
In the absence of Chief Talbert, who is attending the FFCA Strategic Planning Meeting in
Mid-year budget assessment is being prepared by SWFD Fiscal Officer.
SWFD Truck 2 housed at Station 2/WaterColor has achieved Advanced Life Support status as of
Chief Talbert and Deputy Chief Hughes attended the awards ceremony for
SWFD staff met with Walton County Sheriff’s Office command staff to discuss operational issues and training opportunities between our agencies.

Labor negotiation meetings have been established through July 2009 for the bargaining agreement which expires on
SWFD firefighters have completed State required wildland fire training with Training Chief Watts.
SWFD firefighters will participate in interactive training on May 5, 6 and 7, 2009 in a 45’ mobile simulation lab, complete with a full ambulance bay and emergency department area, which will assist in continuing to promote patient safety and quality emergency care.
SWFD personnel will be participating in a statewide hurricane exercise and awareness training on May 11 through

393 South Property Use Update
Due to the deterioration and poor condition of the facility located at CR 393 South, it was the recommendation of staff to continue with the Station 3/Administrative property project and reserve funds for a phased construction plan.
After discussion, the Board agreed that Chairman Gilbert would meet with Chief Talbert regarding a newspaper advertisement for leasing purposes of the 393 South property. Commissioner Crawford suggested advertising in the NW Florida Daily News, Walton Sun, DeFuniak News Herald and/or the Walton Sun. Chairman Gilbert will also re-contact former interested parties (landscape/nurseries) to discuss a possible lease amount reduction.
Station 3/Headquarters Project – 393 North Property
Staff will continue to research all options associated with the Mitigation Plan and purchase options.

Highway 395 South Property Lease Update
Staff will continue to monitor the progress associated with the prospective lessee, Ron Romano/The Beach Group, Inc. and continue to update the board.
New Business:
Vice-Chair Jack Abbit requested that Deputy Chief Hughes conduct an environmental scan in relation to investigating deterrents to beachgoers entering the water under red and double red flag conditions.
